Your Privacy, Fully Protected Undo Closed Tabs - Tab Restore

1 Introduction

Thank you for using Undo Closed Tabs - Tab Restore (the "Extension"), a lightweight productivity extension for Google Chrome and Chromium-based browsers. This extension lets you instantly restore recently closed tabs, undo your last closed tab, restore all recently closed tabs, and search your closed-tab history.

This Privacy Policy explains what information the Extension does and does not handle, how any information is stored, and the choices you have. We built this Extension with a privacy-first philosophy: it is designed to work entirely on your device, without collecting, transmitting, or selling any of your data.

By installing or using the Extension, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Extension.

2 Information We Do Not Collect

We take a strict, no-collection approach. The Extension does not:

• Collect any personal information (such as your name, email address, or identity).
• Track your browsing activity, clicks, or behavior.
• Use any analytics, telemetry, or usage-measurement services.
• Sell, rent, or monetize your data in any way.
• Share or disclose your data with any third parties.
• Use or load remote code, external scripts, or hosted content.
• Display advertisements of any kind.
• Store any browsing data on external servers or in the cloud.
• Require an account, sign-up, login, or registration.

3 Information Stored Locally

To perform its single purpose — restoring your closed tabs — the Extension stores a small amount of information locally inside your own browser, using the Chrome Storage API. This may include:

• Recently closed tab titles — so you can recognize and search your closed tabs.
• Tab URLs (web addresses) — required to reopen the correct page when you restore a tab.
• Tab favicons and closed-time metadata — used only to display your closed-tab list.
• Tab history required for restoring tabs — a capped list of your most recently closed tabs.
• User preferences — any settings you choose, stored using Chrome Storage APIs.

All of this information remains on your device at all times and is never transmitted over the internet. It is stored using chrome.storage.local and Chrome's session storage, which live within your browser profile on your computer.

You are always in control: you can clear your closed-tab history at any time using the Clear History button inside the Extension. Removing or uninstalling the Extension also permanently deletes all locally stored data.

4 How the Extension Uses Your Data

The limited information stored locally is used for one purpose only: to make restoring your closed tabs fast and reliable. Specifically, the Extension uses this data to:

• Display a list of your recently closed tabs inside the popup.
• Let you undo your most recently closed tab in a single click.
• Restore all recently closed tabs at once when you choose to.
• Let you search your closed-tab history by page title or URL.
• Reopen the correct page — with its navigation history where possible — when you click Restore.

Your data is never used for profiling, advertising, analytics, or any purpose beyond the tab-restore functionality you actively request.

5 Permissions Used

Chrome requires extensions to declare the permissions they use. Following the principle of least privilege, this Extension requests only three permissions — each strictly necessary for restoring tabs, and none used for tracking or collecting personal information.

No permission is used to monitor your activity, build a profile, or transmit information off your device.

6 Data Security

Because the Extension does not transmit or store your data anywhere outside your browser, your information is never exposed to network interception, server breaches, or third-party access.

All data is kept within your local browser profile and is protected by the same security model Chrome applies to your browser data. Since there are no external servers involved, there is no remote database to be compromised.

You can delete all stored data at any moment by clicking Clear History in the Extension, or by removing the Extension from chrome://extensions.

7 Third-Party Services

The Extension does not integrate with, send data to, or rely on any third-party services, SDKs, analytics providers, or advertising networks. Fonts and all other assets are bundled directly within the Extension, so it functions completely offline.

The only optional external link is a voluntary "Buy me a coffee" support button. If — and only if — you choose to click it, your browser opens the developer's support page (hosted on Ko-fi) in a new tab. No data about you is sent by the Extension; this is a standard link you may freely ignore. Any page you open this way is governed by that site's own privacy policy.

8 Advertising Policy

This Extension is completely ad-free. It does not display advertisements, sponsored content, pop-ups, or promotional injections of any kind. It does not use advertising identifiers and does not participate in any ad network.

9 Children's Privacy

The Extension is a general-purpose productivity tool suitable for all audiences. It does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. Because no personal data is collected or transmitted, the Extension poses no data-privacy risk to children and complies with applicable children's privacy regulations, including COPPA.

10 Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect improvements to the Extension or changes in legal or Chrome Web Store requirements. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.

Any updated version becomes effective as soon as it is posted. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of the Extension after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
